# Run your bookkeeping practice on BooksGPT

BooksGPT is built for bookkeepers and accountants with many clients. Each client lives in its own workspace, with its own books, bank feeds, and reports, all under your one login.

## Add a workspace for each client

1. Click the workspace pill in the top bar. It shows the workspace you are in.
2. Click **Add workspace** at the bottom.
3. Choose **Business**, enter the client's business name, and click **Create workspace**.
4. Switch between clients from that same pill.

## Plans and extra workspaces

|| Solo includes 1 business workspace and Business includes 3. Practice includes 10 and Firm includes 25. See "What counts as a bank connection, and what each plan includes" for prices. Extra workspaces are billed per month, and the app shows the price before you buy. Manage the count under [Settings](https://app.booksgpt.ai/go/settings) > **Plan & billing**, in **Extra client workspaces**. Inviting clients and teammates is free. The caps are workspaces, never people.

## Invite your client to their workspace

1. Open [Settings](https://app.booksgpt.ai/go/settings) and click **Team & access**. You can also open **All pages** in the left sidebar, then under **Setup** click **Team & access**.
2. Enter their email, pick a role, and click **Send invite**.

## Roles keep duties cleanly separated

- **Client** connects the bank and can view and edit their books. Banking stays in the business owner's hands.
- **Client (limited)** does day-to-day work on transactions, receipts, and bills, without bank connections or sending documents.
- **Bookkeeper** gets full admin and books access, but no bank control. Invite your own teammates this way.
- **Editor** edits the books only. **Viewer** is read-only.

## Bring each client's books over

1. Import each client's history into their own workspace.
2. Their own chart of accounts comes with it, nothing is forced into a template.

See "How to import your data from Wave or QuickBooks", "The import wizard: drop a file and check it reconciles", and "Turn on Cash reports for books imported from QuickBooks Desktop".

## Good to know

- Every workspace has its own [Drive](https://app.booksgpt.ai/go/documents), so clients can drop statements and receipts where you will see them.
- One client with several properties or locations still fits in one workspace. Use dimensions to report by property. See "Track properties, projects, and programs with dimensions".
- To stop keeping a client's books, archive the workspace instead of deleting it. See "Archive a client workspace".
