Compare periods and save a report

On Profit & loss and Balance sheet you can put last period next to this one, show each line as a percent of income, and save the view so you do not rebuild it next month.

This does not replace the rest of the reports catalog. See "Run your financial reports" for the full list, cash vs accrual, and CSV export.

Compare two periods

  1. Open All pages in the left sidebar, then under Reports click Profit & loss or Balance sheet.
  2. Set the dates as usual.
  3. In Compare to, pick Previous period, Previous year, or Custom period.
  4. On Profit & loss, click % of income when you want that column.

Compare to and percent of income on Profit and loss

You get a prior column, plus $ Change and % Change.

  • Previous period for a full month steps back one calendar month (February becomes January, not "28 days ago").
  • A rising expense shows in red. A rising income shows in green.
  • Comparison is not available on the by-month view. The months already are the comparison.

Save a view you run often

  1. On the report, open Saved.
  2. Click Save current view….
  3. Give it a name. Period, cash or accrual, comparison, and % of income are stored with it.

The Saved menu with Save current view

Open All pages, then under Reports click Saved reports to see the list. Everyone in the workspace shares it.

The Saved reports list

A preset like This month is not frozen. Open it next month and the dates move with you.

Good to know

  • Click CSV on any report to download it. For a PDF, print from your browser.
  • These are business reports. Personal workspaces use Cash flow, Budget, and Goals instead.
  • Tag work by property or project first if you want columns by those. See "Track properties, projects, and programs with dimensions".
