Reconcile your books and how transfers auto-match

BooksGPT keeps transfers between your own accounts out of income and expenses, and gives you a simple way to mark transactions as reconciled.

Credit-card payments and transfers (automatic):

  • When both sides of a transfer are connected, for example a credit-card payment leaving your checking account and arriving on your card, BooksGPT pairs them automatically, marks both as a Transfer, and keeps them out of income and expenses.
  • If only one side is connected, BooksGPT still suggests the matching Transfer to option in the category dropdown.
  • To undo a pairing, open the transaction's menu (the three dots) and choose Un-match transfer. Both sides return to To review.

To mark transactions reconciled:

  1. Go to Transactions in the sidebar.
  2. Turn on Reconcile mode in the header. A Rec. column appears.
  3. Check off each transaction that matches your records.

Note: BooksGPT reconciles by matching transactions, not by entering a statement ending balance. There is no separate statement-reconciliation screen today.
